Camping:

Camping is a great way to enjoy some quality time together while not spending tons of money on resorts and hotels. Near Rice Lake, there are both remote and RV style camping available for whatever style of camping your family enjoys.

Hemlock Lake Campground: Hemlock Lake Campground is open for the summer! This campground covers the South end of Hemlock Lake and has remote and electric campsites available. Most of the campsites have lakefront on Hemlock Lake, and each lakefront site has its own dock. There is a swimming area for everyone to use, but no lifeguard on duty. Hemlock Lake is spring fed, 100 feet deep, and is a beautiful place to spend all or part of your summer.

Chain & Twin Lakes: If you are looking for more traditional camping, the Chain and Twin Lakes have remote style campsites for you and your family to enjoy. Less than 20 minutes Northeast of Rice Lake, Chain & Twin Lakes campsites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. These sites cannot be reserved and are available on a first come, first serve basis. The best part? They are free! It’s time to disconnect from electronics and reconnect with your family and the outdoors.

Birch Lake offers full hookup with city water, electric, laundry, basic cable, and WIFI. Located on the ATV routes, it’s easy to connect to the Tuscobia Trail and other surrounding trails. Daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal rates are available!

Tubing:

There is nothing quite like spending the day floating in the water. This summer, spend some time relaxing and floating down the Namekagon River! Jack’s Canoe Rental has tubes available to rent. For a black rubber tube, the cost is $11/person and for vinyl tubes with cup holders, the cost is $14/person. Each rental will receive free shuttle service! Tubing this section of the river takes about 3 to 3.5 hours to finish, and is a great way to spend an afternoon with the family. Pack a cooler with snacks and drinks to enjoy throughout your day! Please note, glass bottles are not allowed on the river. If you bring your own cooler, Jack’s will provide you with a free tube for the cooler and ropes to tie it to your other tubes!

Tubing down the river is a great way to spend a relaxing day with the family. Namekagon River is around 2 to 4 feet deep, and very clear and clean. Kids can have fun swimming and playing while you relax on your tube!

Farmers Markets:

Every Saturday morning from June through September, Gordy’s County Market has a farmer’s market in their parking lot! Gordy’s County Market is located on the South end of Rice Lake off of Main Street. Shopping at farmer’s markets is a great way to teach your children about the benefits of eating and shopping local. Buying from locally based companies helps the community economy thrive. Additionally, locally grown foods are more likely to be grown organically! Enjoy your local farmer’s market while eating the freshest fruit that summer brings.
